Dermatopathology Fellowship

Miraca Life Sciences is proud to offer fellowship training in dermatopathology through a one-year, ACGME-accredited, joint program at Miraca and Tufts Medical Center. The program accepts one fellow each academic year. The dermatopathology fellowship program is based at Miraca’s laboratory in Newton, Mass.

About the Fellowship Program

The majority of the dermatopathology training takes place at Miraca, where fellows benefit from our high patient volume of more than 200,000 cases per year. Specimens range from routine cases to challenging consultations, providing a full spectrum of skin pathology. Fellows participate in daily sign-outs, consensus and teaching conferences, as well as didactic lectures and grand rounds, ensuring exposure to interesting and rare cases. In addition, fellows are expected to teach and mentor dermatology and pathology residents at Tufts Medical Center.

Fellows spend half the year in either the Department of Dermatology or Pathology at Tufts Medical Center, depending on their previous training. In the case of pathology residents, they will see patients in the dermatology clinic to strengthen their facility for dermatopathology through clinicopathological correlation. Fellows who have already completed a dermatology residency will participate in sign-out of general pathology cases.

Miraca has a strong presence at national dermatopathology and pathology meetings featuring its investigative research activities, allowing many opportunities to present and publish research projects. Fellows are encourage to participate in at least one research project during the fellowship year.
